7 years, 1000 posts, 140 picspams, and nonstop abuse of capslock. It's been mostly good, occasionally passive-aggressive times, flist. Thanks for all of it, I wouldn't change it for the world. So what are your fondest memories of this journal? Mine was that time I started a bunch of picspams and promised you guys I'd finish them and then never did.

[+] I unintentionally took a one month hiatus? Thanksgiving was fine - full of food, full of sleep, full of NINJA FUCKING ASSASSIN. It was mindless and plotless but who cares, it had NINJAS, and those ninjas were ASSASSINS. Also: RAAAAAAAAAAAAIN! I was entertained for the full two hours and enjoyed the action and lulz - I highly recommend it for when you've eaten four pounds of turkey and cannot physically do anything more than sit down in another chair.

[+] I wish I had a proper picspam or something to commemorate this post, but I've been really discouraged for a number of reasons. I don't know why my computer or VLC is acting so glicthy, but all my AVI and MKV caps are coming out such shitty quality that it makes picspamming really frustrating. How is GD so good? I know the Korean pop system just churns out musical acts, but they did right with him. He's one of the few artists I think music first, entertainment second. Ugh, the people coming to Roman Polanski's defense are officially on my shit list. They all seem to gloss over the fact that he RAPED A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL. I want the celebrities who signed that petition in support of him to say out loud the words "Roman Polanski raped a 13 year old girl" and then see if they can come up with any other words in his defense after that. None of them seem to be actually SAYING those words when talking about it, instead calling it a "case of morals". It's fucking insulting.

For those of you who want to know, this is the official list of rape apologists, but this post lists a lot more names that aren't there now. The hopeful side of me wants to believe the celebs who withdrew their names did so after learning the full details of Polanski's disgusting crime, but the more realistic side thinks it's probably because their PR people called them up and asked what the FUCK they think they're doing.

3. I know there are a lot things happening in this world (Kanye, Swayze, health care reform), but I am only concerned with THE EPIC DRAMA THAT IS DISMANTLING KPOP. I KNOW, I KNOW, I said I'd have this all out of my system by the start of Fall TV, but nope, much like Dan Rydell had his New York renaissance, I'm having my Korean one. All you need to know is that my favorite boy band member (Jaebum!!!) left my favorite boy band (2PM!!!) out of shame (or conspiracy???) AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO UPSET. NEVER. As frivolous as it all sounds, the whole controversy surrounding his departure actually speaks on a macroscopic level about Korean nationalism, the treatment of foreigners, and the very serious, very out-of-control internet culture over there (I could give you a list of Korean actresses who have committed suicide in the last decade because of this). On the bright side, I've found the Korean equivalent of ONTD, omonatheydidnt, and it's completed my life in ways I didn't know needed completing.

Guys, how awesome was Sunday night TV? While I obsessively wait for the 720p version of Mad Men (WHICH I SUSPECT WILL NEVER COME. INTERNET, YOU HAVE FAILED ME.), I distracted myself by picspamming True Blood. Hahaha, because you haven't seen enough of those, have you? But it was so great! Remember how Joss said that Man on the Street would be the game-changing episode for Dollhouse, and it was awesome and we were all like, "Yeah! Game changed!" but then the show never followed up on the awesome and regressed back to the same old game about which we were all ambivalent? Well, I Will Rise Up was that game-changing ep for me - hopefully none of that other stuff will happen.

Guys, what's the opposite of awesome? Tumblr. Specifically, people stealing your ENTIRE picspam and posting it on Tumblr to be reblogged over and over WITHOUT CREDIT. I knew there was a reason I've been resisting Tumblr so fucking much.

What's not the opposite of awesome, but in fact, totally awesome? KPOP. SPECIFICALLY, 2PM. I will never stop talking about them (and by "never" I mean "until fall TV returns"). The great thing about the Korean celeb system is that to become popular or stay relevant, you're required to do a slew of ridiculous variety shows and generally make an ass of yourself for the public's amusement. Constant exposure is the name of the game. 2PM has only been around for a year but already they've hosted a variety show, where they woo through song and dance their female AND male guests, and have a reality series, where they run around Korea being ridiculous. It's basically the light of my life.

OHMYGOD I'VE BEEN TRYING TO POST THIS ALL GODDAMN DAY. OF COURSE THE ONE TIME DURING THE SUMMER I ACTUALLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING, LJ COCKBLOCKS ME. I HAVE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO SAY. VERY IMPORTANT.

1. I watched the pilot of Defying Gravity and seeing as how no one's talking about it (well, no one's talking about anything anymore on LJ), we are all in agreement? IT WAS SUPER BORING. Look, Ron Livingston, I suffered through as much of Standoff as I could for you, please get better projects. This "Grey's Anatomy in space" and "female-friendly sci-fi" is "insulting to my intelligence."

2. It's summer and you guys know what that means: I get super Korean! Two summers ago it was Kdramas, last summer it was Kmovies, this summer it's Kpop! Along with the Wonder Girls, I am so so so into 2PM. THEY ARE JUST REALLY CUTE AND DANCE REALLY WELL AND THEIR SONGS ARE REALLY CATCHY, OK? SHUT IT. JUST SHUT IT. I WAS A VERY UNHAPPY CHILD AND DID NOT ALLOW MYSELF ~*FRIVOLOUS*~ THINGS AS A TEENAGER, LET ME GO THROUGH MY SILLY BOY BAND PHASE IN MY TWENTIES. TAECYEON IS MY FAVORITE. HE HAS FANTASTIC EYEBROWS. 3. I saw (500) Days of Summer with my brother last weekend, because I'm a pathetic loser and he's a giant vagina. I swear, that boy loves quirky romantic comedies more than I do; he left the theater wanting to buy a sweater vest. You are too much, brother, too much. Anyway! I was worried the movie would be overly twee, but it was just the right note of adorable and hilarious and smart and realistic and whimsical and lovely. JGL and Zooey D were presh, of course. Actually, it was exactly where I usually have my lunch so that was kind of annoying, having that whole area blocked off. They were just sitting on a bench, calmly talking to the director, but I heard rumors around the office that people saw J.Lo screaming at the crew later on. OK.
